It is possible for part of your stomach to slide upwards into your chest.

It does this by pushing itself through a hole (called the hiatus) in your diaphragm muscle.

The hernia itself rarely causes any symptoms but does seem to make reflux more likely.  Hiatus hernias are generally left alone without any treatment, except for treating heartburn symptoms.
